Al Lee SMITH, 72, of Ringgold, Georgia, departed this life September 22, 2010. Al was born April 29, 1938, in Walker County, a son of the late Mack Smith Sr. and Vesta Lewis Smith. He also was preceded in death by his sisters, Mona Lee Hegwood and Claudette Stephens and his brothers, Mack �Bill,� Harold �Cub,� Austin, Charles, Don and Bob Smith. Survivors include his wife; daughters and son-in-law; son and daughter-in-law; a nephew whom he thought of as a son and his wife; brother; sister; grandchildren; great-grandson; several nieces and nephews. Services to celebrate the life of Al Lee Smith were held Thursday, September 23, 2010, at the Melrose Chapel of Ponders Funeral Home. He was laid to rest at the Colonial Hills Memorial Park Cemetery. Arrangements were by locally owned and operated Ponders Funeral Home, 138 Melrose Drive, Dalton; (706) 226-4002.

Barbara Geneva Gordy SONGER, 64, of Ringgold, Georgia, died Monday, June 7, 2004. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jesse �Buck� Songer Sr.; parents, James and Susie Williams Gordy; brother, Herbert Gordy. Survivors include two sons; one daughter; two sisters; two brothers; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; several nieces and nephews. Services were held Wednesday, June 9, 2004 in the Wallis-Stewart Chapel of Wilson Funeral Home. Burial was in Coulter Cemetery. Arrangements were by Wilson Funeral Home of Ringgold, Georgia.
